Terms and Conditions of Hiring

These Terms and Conditions govern the hire of Durning Hall, owned and operated by Supporting Humanity. By booking the venue, the hirer agrees to abide by these terms in full.

1. Booking and Deposit
1.1 A £250 deposit is required to secure your booking.
1.2 The deposit must be paid at least 10 days prior to the event.
1.3 The booking will only be confirmed once the deposit has been received.
1.4 The deposit is refundable subject to full compliance with these terms, including no damages, no breaches of conduct, and the venue being left in a clean and tidy condition.

2. Payment
2.1 Full payment for the hire must be received prior to the event, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
2.2 Failure to pay the balance may result in the booking being cancelled and the deposit forfeited.

3. Condition and Cleanliness
3.1 The hirer is responsible for leaving all areas of the venue in the same condition as found, including:
Kitchen facilities
Toilets
Main hall and any other areas used
3.2 All rubbish must be removed by the hirer. All bin bags should be taken away from the premises; nothing is to be left behind.
3.3 Any damage, breakages, or loss caused during the hire will be the responsibility of the hirer and may result in the forfeiture of the deposit and additional charges.

4. Kitchen Use
4.1 Use of the kitchen must be pre-approved by Supporting Humanity.
4.2 Any external equipment or appliances brought in for use in the kitchen must be declared in advance and must have a valid electrical safety certificate.
4.3 The hirer is responsible for cleaning all kitchen equipment and surfaces used and ensuring the kitchen is left in the same condition as found.

5. Parking
5.1 A maximum of two vehicles per booking is permitted in the Durning Hall car park.
5.2 All other vehicles must park responsibly in nearby streets, ensuring no obstruction to neighbours or emergency access.

6. Conduct and Behaviour
6.1 Hirers must respect neighbours and the surrounding community. Excessive noise, including loud music, will not be tolerated.
6.2 No alcohol, drugs, or smoking are permitted on the premises.
6.3 Hirers must ensure all guests behave in a respectful and responsible manner.

7. Health and Safety
7.1 The hirer is responsible for ensuring the health and safety of all guests during the event.
7.2 All fire exits and safety equipment must be kept clear and accessible at all times.
7.3 The hirer must not interfere with or remove any safety equipment.

8. Liability
8.1 Supporting Humanity accepts no liability for injury, loss, or damage to persons or property during the hire period.
8.2 The hirer is responsible for ensuring adequate insurance is in place for their event if necessary.
8.3 The hirer agrees to indemnify Supporting Humanity for any claims, costs, or expenses arising from misuse of the venue, damage, or breach of these terms.

9. Restrictions
9.1 The venue must only be used for legal and permitted activities.
9.2 No sub-letting or assigning the booking to another party is permitted.
9.3 Decorations may only be used if approved in advance and must not damage walls, furniture, or fittings.

10. Cancellation
10.1 Cancellations made more than 10 days before the event may be refunded less an administrative fee.
10.2 Cancellations made within 10 days of the event will forfeit the deposit.

11. Right of Entry
11.1 Supporting Humanity reserves the right to enter the premises during the hire period to ensure compliance with these terms.
11.2 If the hirer breaches any of these terms, Supporting Humanity may terminate the hire immediatelyand ask all guests to leave.

12. Agreement
12.1 By paying the deposit and/or using the venue, the hirer confirms they have read, understood, and agreed to abide by these Terms and Conditions.
